What's for breakfast?

REMINDER: THE CAFE IS CLOSED FOR WINTER HOLIDAY
TUESDAY JANUARY 6th THRU WEDNESDAY JANUARY 14th

Mexican coffee, fresh baked croissant, and a really good book

Alright, so the croissant obviously weren't even close to Fleur de Lis quality, but what other croissant really is?

Huge thanks to Dave for recommending On Food and Cooking. No matter what chapter I am reading, McGee never fails to blow my mind with his scientific approach to food, while simultaneously remaining 'down to earth' with his great sense of humor. A must read for any true foodie.

By midday our lives began to closely resemble a Corona commercial:

What's for lunch

On Food and Cooking! *gasp* I love that book SO much! It is a perfect marriage of my inner science nerd and my outer foodie. What a fabulous vacation read. I should dig out my copy . . .

I should share that I just got a copy of Bakewise by Shirley Corriher as a belated Christmas present. I found it in Powells and geeked out for 15 minutes reading about how the protein content of flour affects cookies. It is in the same vein as McGee's book but also includes a few recipes.

Have a lovely vacation!!
